Shopping Updates and News for New Mexico WIC NM Families
New Mexico WIC is working hard to keep families informed.
Starting April 1st, 2020, New Mexico WIC has temporarily added some additional food options to help you shop during COVID-19. These Options include:
EGGS: You can now purchase small, medium, large, and extra-large eggs. There are more organic options allowed. You can purchase 6ct, 18ct, 30ct, or 60ct. NOTE: You must have enough on your WIC card to purchase the larger amounts.
CHEESE: You can purchase shredded and sliced cheese in addition to block and string cheese. You can now purchase cheese in 6oz, 8oz, 12oz, 16oz, and 32oz sizes in all forms if available. NOTE: You must have enough on your WIC card to purchase the larger amounts.
YOGURT: You can now purchase yogurt in individual sizes (4oz and 5.3oz).
WHOLE GRAINS: Oatmeal: You can now purchase more oatmeal products sizes including individual instant oatmeal packets in Regular Flavor only. Bread: You can now purchase various brands of Whole Wheat bread in 20oz size. NOTE: You must have enough on your WIC card to purchase larger sizes.
BABY FOOD: You can now purchase Happy Baby Organics brand baby food.
MILK: You can now purchase various brands of organic milk. NOTE: Milk type; whole , 2%, 1%, etc., must match what is on your WIC Shopping List.
CEREAL: You can purchase cereal in other sizes than 12oz, 18oz, or 36oz.

Smith’s Offering Self-Checkout to WIC Participants
Effective March 24th, 2020, all Smith’s grocery stores are allowing WIC participants to purchase their groceries using their WIC EBT card in the Self-Checkout lanes. Signage will be displayed for WIC participants.

WIC is open for business and will NOT lock cards.
A rumor is circulating around on Facebook that the WIC offices will lock benefits on March 29th. THIS IS FALSE. Contact your local WIC office for information.
No Diapers or wipes
Please be aware that New Mexico WIC is NOT providing diapers or wipes. If you need help, please contact your local food banks or other faith based organizations as they may be able to help.
Formula companies are not shipping free formula
Despite Social Media Posts that participants may be seeing, Formula Manufacturers are NOT shipping a free case of formula if the stores are out of stock. WIC has called formula companies to confirm.
